For 21 days. I’m scared. This also means I’m going dairy QUEEN free. Oh no.
I’m still convinced that Tristan suffers from reflux. The Zantac he started 14 days ago has helped but he still experiences a good amount of fussiness and spitting up each day.
I’m not entirely convinced that this is due to a food sensitivity or allergy but I’m willing to give it a try.
I met with Jasmine, a wellness consultant, this morning. She and I discussed a plan. I will give up dairy and soy and start consuming these….
We also talked about some new supplements. More on that in a separate post.
Right now I have more questions than answers. I’ll ask Jasmine to answer them for me, here on the blog. I’ll try to write about this adventure every other day.
Tomorrow is day 1. I wish I could say that right now I am eating cheesy pizza, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and chocolate but I’m not. If dairy really is causing this little guy discomfort I’ll do whatever it takes. Starting…..now.

I’m sure I told you before how I gave up dairy and soy when nursing my daughter. It was hard, but so worth it to see her happy and pain free. And now she is three, and fine with dairy. Good luck, remember it is temporary.
I am excited for you! I gave up dairy again recently because it made my allergies worse. You do what you gotta do! You read @keli_h’s blog, right? On her post about her daughter’s allergies I included a link that is so helpful- not sure if I sent it to you. I guess I can just find it and put it here, too. http://www.peta.org/living/vegetarian-living/accidentally-vegan.aspx
A list of lots of normal everyday foods that are dairy free- very helpful. I hope you see a difference!
Steph
P.S. I happen to think Rice Dream’s strawberry ice cream is AMAZING. And there are lots of sorbets out there that are dairy free.
It is going to be an amazing journey and glad to be working with you!
One of my twins had reflux and I gave up dairy while breast feeding. I almost hoped it wouldn’t make a difference because I love cheese…but it did…a major difference for him. I nursed him for 8 months and I was so happy to eat pizza at the end. Cutting dairy helped a little bit with the quantity of spit up, but there was still a lot. I routinely cleaned up puddles from the floor and changed my clothes several times a day. We also kept burp cloths and extra blankets everywhere.
He has never had any problems drinking milk or eating cheese (he is 29 months old now) so it was a temporary issue related to his reflux.
You can do this! I hope it helps.
At least we’ll have the memories.
Thinking a lot of good thoughts for you and Tristan. I’ve given up most dairy, and it’s definitely made a difference with Lucas.
I have several friends who have done the same. Let me know if you need someone to talk to
Good luck!
